Payon — the village the forest hides

Wooden houses on a mountainside, bridges over a chasm, and trees that make the place invisible from the valley floor.

Payon builds only in the wood its own forest gives it, which is why the town looks grown rather than constructed. The Archer Village sits in the same forest, and the Hunter Guild was based here until it moved north to Hugel for reasons nobody explains to outsiders. The locals will tell you — casually, as a warning — about tigers that walk like men and a nine-tailed fox that has been seen in the caves.
