Gates, in order: not a Novice · Chef Hat `5026` equipped · at least 2,000 free weight. Fail any of these and he talks about your clothes or your inventory instead of cooking.

Getting to him. He is a floating script (- script Charles Orleans#cook_) placed by npc/re/quests/cooking_quest.txt at `prt_cas 324,200` — the Prontera castle kitchen. Madeleine Chu is at prt_cas 329,206, the Child with Cat at 329,194, Wickebine at 329,192.

Steps

1. Talk to Charles. He asks who the child is — any answer works, it changes one

line of dialogue. Then choose "Sir Orleans?" to start the lessons.

1. He says he only teaches each recipe once. Bring the ingredients for the dish he

is teaching:

1. He gives hunting hints in the same breath: grasshoppers in the fields,

Poporings for grapes, bears for honey. Those are the script's own words.

1. Madeleine Chu (prt_cas 329,206) sends you to Payon with a **Bundle of Food

12111**.

1. Chulsoo — the script calls him Servant — stands at `payon 209,127`. He

takes the Bundle of Food and gives a Traditional Rice Cake `555`. He also sells Rice Cakes for 200 zeny if you just want one.

Note: the Payon NPC is Chulsoo, not Charles. An earlier draft of this file had that wrong; corrected here.

Rules the script enforces

• One active mission per account. It checks every character on the account and refuses with "You've started a mission on another character."
• Mission points and the delay timer are shared across characters.
• Abandoning costs zeny and does not reset the delay — the dialogue says so explicitly.
• A mission reward pays in points, base exp, job exp and zeny; the amount is computed from the mission's difficulty.
• The shop is a separate NPC entity (mission_shop) reached from the menu.

Steps: talk → New Mission → the NPC names a monster and a count → hunt it → return → Mission Status → collect. Points accumulate across the account.

Finish: return to Tyus with all four tablets plus Eye of Hellion `7337` → Nile Rose `2658` + Old Blue Box `603` + 1,200,000 base exp (the script pays 120,000 on a low-rate realm and 1,200,000 otherwise — it checks checkre(3)).

Turning in the tablets without the Eye still gives Nile Rose and 1,000,000 exp. The Eye alone can be handed over separately.

The Mysterious Man offers three swords. You pick one, gather, and return. The chain's other NPCs — Ghatu prt_in 162,11, Veeyop prontera 197,188, Cetsu morocc 281,178, Nain izlude_in 173,88 — are the ones who point you at him.

Every sword costs one Emperium. He also has an "I changed my mind" option, which is the only polite exit in the game.

Three smiths, each offering three weapons. Each recipe has two routes: gather the ore (10 Gold + 50 Steel + 10 Emperium) or bring 30 of one gem.
